    • First of all, go to Control Panel → Network and Internet Connections → Network Connections

    • You need to choose “wireless networks” and then the box that says “Add under preferred networks” is needed to be checked off. Choose a suitable name for your connection under “SSID.”
       

    • Ensure that the box that says “This is a computer-to-computer network” is checked off and the box that says “The key is provided for me automatically” is unchecked.
       

    • Now click “Network Authentication” and choose “Open.” Next go to “Data Encryption” and select “WEP” (a type of security). Enter a passphrase for the WEP key and then confirm the password in the next text field. Finally press “Ok.”
       

    Connect Other Computers

     

    • Turn on another PC.
       

    • Look at the bottom right side of the menu for a pop-up that notifies you of available Wi-Fi connections.
       

    • You simply need to click on the “Network” icon on the system tray and a list of nearby Internet connections will be displayed. You should see the name of your Internet connection in the list. Click it and you will be prompted to enter the password. Enter the correct password and press “Enter” from the keyboard.
       

    • Launch the Web browser you have installed on your computer and start using Internet connection without using any router.

    Important Tip


    Remember resetting your router will erase any configuration changes you might have made. Once the process is complete, you may have to configure the router.
